there's almost no (post-navy-occupation) graffiti on adak, despite the
lack of authority figures around; this is one of the few examples
this is the subdivision we stayed in; even here only maybe 25% of the houses
are being used
and the rest just lay open with couches and shit sitting outside
bus shelter (there used to be that many people here)
wasn't sure what this building was, and there was no easy access without
breaking a window
the only tree outside the adak national forest sits in this lonely "park"
someone had opened it, but it's locked now
driving everywhere looked like this
the gas station is only open for a few hours a week
the only major bit of public works activity going on is the telco running
fiber-optic cable to houses. yes, it seemed insane to us too.
